Dry Season (December–April)
The dry season offers sunny mornings, easier trail conditions, and the best chance to see Arenal Volcano without cloud cover. This is peak tourist season, so book tours 2–3 weeks in advance. Wildlife is concentrated near water sources, making sightings easier. Temperatures average 28–33°C (82–91°F).
Green Season (May–November)
The "rainy" season is actually the best time for nature lovers. Rain usually falls in the afternoon, leaving mornings clear for tours. The rainforest is at its lushest, waterfalls are at their most powerful, and birdwatching diversity peaks with migratory species arriving in October. Prices are 15–25% lower and crowds are minimal.

Is the rainy season a bad time for tours in Arenal?
No. In the green season (May–November) mornings are usually clear and the rain arrives after 1–2 PM. We simply schedule wildlife walks, hanging bridges and waterfall visits early, and keep hot springs for the afternoon.
When is the best time for birdwatching in La Fortuna?
October through March, when North American migrants join the resident species. Nesting activity for resident birds peaks between February and April. Early morning departures (5:30–6:00 AM) are essential year-round.
How far in advance should I book tours in La Fortuna?
In high season (December–April and July) book 2–3 weeks ahead, especially for private guides and night tours. In green season, 3–7 days is usually enough. Our booking cutoff is 12 hours before a guided tour.
